Marine adventures are
rich and varied. Brilliant venues for kite, wind & board surfing abound on the north and east coasts. Some of the best kite surfing in the world (in the top
ten) happens in Cabarete, and the surfing is excellent just west of Sosua. close window
Diving is a popular sport in the DR, and our local PADI shop offers group and private lessons and certification. Some 30 previously uncharted
sites including shipwrecks are available for new and experienced divers
or snorkelers. If wanting a solo snorkel, perhaps a swim off Generals’ Beach
in Sousa is in order to investigate the three islands in shallow water.

try the Marine Aqua Park in Puerto Plata, where you may have

Further offshore, the Bahia de Samana has been the preferred breeding area for humpback whales for many centuries. Several boating companies offer whale-watching in season. close window
